Maggie Wise, Early Childhood Music Specialist

Maggie Wise started working as a Music Specialist for Early Childhood at Mandel in 2015. In addition to teaching early childhood, she will be song-leading Havdalah for Kindergarten and First Grade and for the All School Kabbalat Shabbat as well as coordinating school spirit for the Kindergarten - Eighth Grade Tribes. Maggie graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the University of Wisconsin. She has over twenty years of experience teaching music and theatre to children and young adults across the country. Locally, Maggie has taught at Stagecrafters Youth Theatre, was an adjunct theatre professor and director at Lakeland Community College, and has a private music studio teaching piano, guitar and voice. Maggie believes introducing music to young children involves a multi-sensory approach through incorporating movement, dramatics, instrument exploration, creative play, active listening, singing, and storytelling. “Music is not just about singing songs. Music can be a tool to learn about the world and who you are in it. Exploring music encourages self-discovery, self-expression, confidence, and also prepares a child to develop the academic and social skills needed for success in Kindergarten and beyond.” Maggie lives in Mayfield Village with Rob Ross and their daughter, Olive who is a proud Mandel JDS student.
