Over the course of their final year at Mandel, our eighth grade students engage in high-level interdisciplinary research to develop and answer their own essential questions. Students have the opportunity to explore this driving question across all subject areas strengthening their analytic and critical thinking skills. In the second semester, students design and implement service projects in response to these essential questions. The development of each question, along with the research and project outcomes are entirely student-led, expressing each's individual choice and voice. In culmination of their exploration, each student delivers a "TED-Talk" style speech detailing their learning and discovery in the Spring.
