Speak with your child’s teacher first. Teachers truly know their students, and are the best source of information about what’s happening in their particular class or grade.  Next, speak with your child’s division director – Abby Berkowitz for Early Childhood; Halle Dubin for the Lower School (K-5); Kim Favor for Middle School (6-8); and Leah Spector for Judaics and Hebrew.

JERRY ISAAK-SHAPIRO, Head of School, is responsible for the interpretation and implementation of policy and of the mission of the school, hiring and staff evaluation, and representing the school to its constituents.

LEAH SPECTOR, Principal and Head of Judaics, develops and supervises all class and event schedules as well as the school master schedule, and evaluates performance of Department Chairs and Division Directors in conjunction with Head of School. She also develops, supervises and evaluates the overall Judaics and Hebrew curricula and evaluates the Judaics staff.

KIM FAVOR, Director of Middle School (6th - 8th grade), oversees and administers all aspects of the division’s programs and services in addition to evaluating division staff. Kim is also the Language Arts Department Chair and a Middle School teacher.

HALLE DUBIN, Director of Lower School (K – 5th grade), oversees and administers all aspects of the division’s programs and services in addition to evaluating division staff. Halle is also a general studies teacher.

ABBY BERKOWITZDirector of Early Childhood, develops, supervises and evaluates Mandel JDS’s Early Childhood division and evaluates its staff. 

GUSSIE SINGER, Director of Intervention Services, is responsible for the supervision and management of Mandel JDS’s Learning Enhancement Team and is the parent liaison for learning services beyond normative classroom instruction.

JANET KEANE, Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the budgeting process and the school’s overall financial health. She also coordinates the tuition assistance process.

JODI STEWARTHuman Resources/Accountant, is responsible for matters related to tuition.

LAURA SIMONDirector of Admissions, is responsible for student admissions, recruitment and retention. She is also the school’s parent liaison and will assemble the appropriate staff members to discuss a particular issue and follow up on a timely basis.

LAURA LEVENTHAL, Director of Capital and Board Advancement, is responsible for the capital campaign and the Board of Trustees.

LAURA LOEBL, Director of Development and Grants, is responsible for the Annual Fund, the Annual Benefit and supporting donor events. She also is responsible for potential grant opportunities and developing grant proposals.

ABIGAIL SILVERMAN, Director of Marketing and Communications, is responsible for marketing, advertising, public relations and both internal and external communications.

ELLEN JOSEPH, Student Services Coordinator, handles student record keeping, transportation, medications, safety drills and the lunch program.

JENNY EMERY, Administrative Assistant, keeps track of the B’nai Mitzvah registry dates and coordinates after-school programs. She also maintains Jerry Isaak-Shapiro’s calendar of meetings and events. Please contact her directly to schedule a meeting with Jerry.

MARCY SCOLNICK, Receptionist, is responsible for taking attendance, making deposits to student lunch accounts and selling gift cards. 

JESSICA SHAPIRO, Mandel JDS Parent Association President, coordinates and organizes programs and parent volunteer opportunities in support of the school.
