Mandel JDS observes kashrut with designated days for meat and dairy. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday lunches are dairy or pareve (neither meat not dairy, but may include fish) and Tuesday and Thursday lunches are meat or pareve. Students may either purchase a kosher lunch or may bring a lunch from home. However, meat may not be brought into the school, even on meat days. Instead, students may bring a pareve lunch. Lunches are stored in lockers and are not refrigerated during the morning so thermos-type containers for hot food and ice packs for cold food are recommended.
