Aaron Burkle, Science Teacher

Aaron Burkle is thrilled to join the faculty at Mandel JDS for the 2026-2027 school year, bringing his passion for hands-on, experiential science education to the middle school. He is a 2002 graduate (B.S.) of Penn State University and also holds M.S. (2010) and M.Ed. (2026) degrees. He completed Ph.D coursework at Kent State but thankfully (feel free to ask “why, thankfully?”) never completed his dissertation. Prior to joining the Mandel community Aaron was an adjunct lecturer for 15 years at John Carroll University and Notre Dame College and co-taught a K-5 science classroom in Cleveland Heights-University Heights while completing his M.Ed degree.

 

Outside of Mandel, Aaron is a Chief Warrant Officer and the Commander and Conductor of the 28th Infantry Division Band in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard where he has served for 29 years. Aaron is as passionate about music and the performing arts as he is about science. He is married to Alicia and the father of Abigail and Astrid.
